Market Report Saturday April 10th

April 10 2010

The focus at today’s market now that Easter is over is mothers day.  Our Chrysanthanum crop at our Ballarat flower farm is starting to bud into colour.  We are growing some of the newest Chrysanthanum varaties this year including the spray Arctic Queen which is a lovely white chrys with a green center.  we also have the new White spider disbbud Shakira white growing and it is actually flowering now so unfortunately won’t last until mothers day but will be enjoyed now.  Five bunches went into Stems this morning.  Be quick because I think they will be gone by lunch time!!!

We have some lovely roses in today with a bucket of Fiesta(the lolly pop one) and a bucket of Advance (Pure White) on today’s market truck.

First of the years Stocks have come in.  Grown by our friend Dominic Agresta at Cranbourne.  This Italian family farm in its second generation of growers always brings the first stocks of the year in.  They are limited in numbers so we are very lucky to get some.

In Potted lines we picked up the first flowering Cymbidium orchid plants of the year.  Only limited colours but this will improve in coming weeks.  Also cyclamens are excellent at this time of year and we have a great range in store to choose from.

We have launched our enewsletter sign up today so if you would like a quick email update of whats happening and available at stems please send us an email and we will put you on to it.

On a bit of a down note after an excellent season our farm grown Lissianthus have finished with us picking off the last bed this week.  We will now stock Avonlea grown Lissianthus from now until mothers day.  We will certainly miss these beautiful flowers in our hothouses.
